The movement is aimed at making our neighborhoods a safe environment for honey bees, other pollinators and ourselves, by eliminating the use of bee-poisonous pesticides. It’s a great movement for an invaluable cause, as bees are responsible for a huge portion of what we eat, and they are in serious decline right now.
Bee Safe Neighborhoods | Living Systems Institute / Honeybee Keep / Nice World has all the materials needed for approaching neighbors in an outreach to reduce or eliminate pesticide use and to increase pollinator plantings. Our focus is friendly, listening based, educational outreach which offers tools to make it easier for people to consider going pesticide free.
We hope you will decide to join us the adopting the goal for our Table Mesa neighborhood of reaching at least 75 contiguous homes pledged to Bee Safe. Do you know some neighbors to recruit to each reach out to neighbors? Many hands make light work, as they say! Our group hopes to identify 10-20 people willing to approach ten to twenty homes near their home seeking Bee Safe pledges. Once we found those people, we will invite the Bee Safe Catalpa-Melody Boulder to a short meeting to kick off our groups efforts and set a timeline for a concentrated effort. Bee Safe Catalpa-Melody Boulder secured over 200 pledges in 21 days with this approach! [posted 6/16/14]
